Yves Saint Laurent Le Teint Touché Éclat Review

"Light Luminosity and Radiance in your perfect shade"

Okay so what happend was I was window shopping at House of Fraser because I'm trying to save up for Boxing Day sales (not going well at all), and for some reason ended up at the ysl, dior and chanel counters picking up foundation samples. So I'm planning on reviewing these yayy, everybody please control your excitement.

First up was YSL's infamous Touché Éclat which has a cult following! I was matched to colour B050- I believe! It's a tad darker than what I usually wear (MAC NC35) but recently I've been liking the more tanned look.

A bit of background- I like dewy/satin or luminous finish foundations that have exceptionally good coverage, set well without powder and have a wet kind of look to them (I'm hard to please), I usually apply foundations with a dense buffing brush, and don't set with powder usually but if I do it's MAC msf, I use urban decay all nighter  and don't use a primer.

Before applying I exfoliate my face with REN micro polish cleanser and Dove Cream Bar, apply Lancome Visionnaire and my Nivea Creme and leave to sink in. My skin is dry and has some scarring.

My Thoughts: it's a very pretty foundation and would be very good for normal-slightly dry or oily skins, with small problematic areas, don't expect this to cover cystic acne and especially not in the first layer, this needs layering to achieve a good medium coverage and it does build up well with minimum caking as it is very light (feels amazing on), but it doesn't look amazing built up.

It is obviously luminous, not the wet looking luminousity I prefer but still very glowy. It sets with a slight stickiness to it which would probably go away if you used powder, and the foundation does deliver radiance without shimmer or glitter.

However I hated the lasting power, they way it dried around my spots and the tackiness of it.

I loved how light it was, how it covered my scarring and looked natural even though I wore 2.5 layers of it!

It's a pretty expensive foundation, and I don't think I would purchase it because I prefer heavier coverages and longer staying power (I only wear foundations to special events) but if one day I achieve perfect skin, this will be deffo be the one! I do think it's much better than some other "luminous" foundations eg has a lot better coverage and flawless finish when built up then armani luminous silk, and is much lighter than Bourjois Healthy Mix Radiance Reveal on the skin.

My advice if you would like to try this out, is get matched up at the counter! They have a really good colour range leaning more yellow though! And get yourself a sample to try! I never comment on breakouts etc because everything can trigger breakouts and everyone's skin is different- the only foundations that break me out are MAC's and bobbi brown tinted moisturising balm thingy.

Ooh and before I forget, it does have a scent but this is not strong nor does it linger, it is actually pretty pleasant!

I'd love to hear your thoughts if you have tried this foundation or other luminous one xo

Until next time 😘

September Favourites

Okay so I'm posting my September favourites a little early because the beginning of October is going to be so so so busy. Pictured above clockwise ish:
Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation 55 £9.99
Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum 55 £10.99
Dior Addict Extreme Lipstick 986 Bonne Aventure £24.00
Dior Full Coverage Fluid Foundation Brush £36.00
MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural Medium Dark £22.00
Dior Addict Extreme Lipstick 829 Sunset Boulevard £24.00
Maybelline Baby Lips £2.99
DiorSkin Nude Tan Duo Paradise 02 Coral Glow with Mini kabuki £40.00 *limited edition*

(Above picture in order of Bourjois Foundation, Bourjois Serum, Dior 829,Dior 986, MAC msf, Dior Tan Duo)
I have been loving the Bourjois Foundations! I've been wanting to try them for ages but coz of my acne I just never did, but they have amazing coverage and a nice finish, the lasting power could be better but it's amazing for the price. I have a new obsession with Dior lipsticks ( i think I have purchased like 6 in the last month, oops) and their new Mystic Metallics range and Dior everything to be honest, their lipsticks are so creamy and lasting, and their brushes are such good quality and make your face look flawless (especially in love with the mini kabuki). The tan duo is also nice, I got it from my mum as a birthday gift, but barely ever use the blush, I'm just not a blush person but love the bronzer. Whoever you are you need to get some Baby lips, it is so good! My lips were suffering this month from cracking and dryness due to some stress and anaemia :( but the maybelline baby lips really helped lock in moisture and my lipstick used to glide over seamlessly. It smells nice too mmmm.

I'm not sure if I have mentioned this before, but during the summer I was on a skin care hype trying to get my skin as clear as possible for my aunts wedding, I tried all sorts of brands REN, Eve Lom, Chanel, Origins, Kiehls, SK2 etc but nothing really seemed to work for me. So I went back to what I was regularly using in the younger days: Neutrogena visibly clear 2 in 1! Which Is like £5 I believe and my skin looks so much clearer with no active acne, just scarring and some under the skin spots. Yayy cheap skincare ftw. I've also been loving my Nivea All Soft as a top up moisturiser (£1.75) during the day at college and my Lancôme Visionnaire (£59) as per usual.

Since it's back to school/college and I can't just chill in pjs all day, I've been finding it difficult in not just looking plain boring wearing baggy knits and loose jeans/leggings all the time so I went on a little accessory hunt and now am in love with statement necklaces.

Necklace with Blue Spikes- £18.50 Miss Selfridge
Gold Ball Necklace- £10 Accesorize
Gold and Diamonte Necklace- £10 Miss Selfridge

How to cover acne, scars for a healthy brighter natural complexion

You Will Need
1. A good coverage concealer such as the Hard Candy Glamoflauge, Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, Collection 2000 lasting Perfection
2. Your HG Foundation, My Favourites for special occasions are the Armani Luminous Silk or the Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation. But I also like the Estée Lauder Double Wear mixed with some moisturiser.
3. An Illuminator or Glow Enhancer, the Josie Maran Argan Oil Illuminator, Armani Sheer Fluid etc
4. A good primer, My favourite is the smash box  photo finish primer which I use over my blemishes and under my eyes/around my mouth, On special occasions I use the MAC Prep and Prime base visage as well all over my face.
5. A setting powder- loose or compact it doesn't really matter, finer milled powders like the Chanel Poudre Libre will  be better for satin and dewy foundations where if you want to mattify go for something like the MAC Studio Fix.

Now lets Get Started!!

1. Make sure you've exfoliated, cleansed, toned and moisturised well! I use the REN Micropolish Cleanser on an everyday basis with an exfoliating mitt and the Eve Lom Cleansing Balm at night. As for toner I use the Kiehls Ultra Facial Toner followed by my Lancôme Visionnaire and my Chanel Hydra Creme but if you have oily skin use a gel moisturiser or a lighter fluid like the Olay Beauty Fluid.

*if you really need to mattify the La Roche  -Posay Effaclar Duo is the bomb.com and is an amazing makeup base.

2. Prime time, I apply thin layers of the Smash box Photo finish primer over blemishes and anywhere I feel my makeup creases like around my eyes and mouth. The siliconey-ness really smooths over the spots well. For the rest of my face I use the MAC Prep and Prime.

3. I used the ELDW mixed with the Body Shop Tinted Glow Enhancer in 02 and some Moisturiser. I dotted this evenly all over my face concentrating more on my acne areas, and then buffed out in circular motions using my Dior Full Coverage Fluid Foundation Brush (you could use any dense circular flat top or fingers). I usually go over the areas I need more coverage with a little bit more foundation.

*i mix with moisturiser because I find it too heavy*

4. Conceal if needed on blemishes or under eyes, I usually use a green corrector on really red spots and dark scars before applying foundation.

5. Set with Powder! I use MAC Studio Fix on my blemishes with a dense flat top, so I can really press the powder onto my cheeks, and with a big fluffy brush I use my Chanel Poudre Universelle

The End!

*contour and highlight as needed

The Worlds Best Mascara: YSL effet faux cils baby doll

I actually believe I have found the worlds best mascara (in my opinion). The story starts something like this:

Once upon a time a girl called Onika wandered down to the YSL counter to go Lipstick hunting as the girls at MAC were not helpful at all. She ended up buying 2 unnecessary lipsticks which at first she loved and in the future would just end up in the bottom of her bag. The delightful lady at YSL threw in a free sample of the new volume effet faux baby doll mascara.

So Onika went off home and was initially going to bin the sample because it was so so perfumed but alas tries it. And has never loved anything more.

She loved it more than this girl loves her fish and no one could possibly love something more.

It actually made her lashes look like false lashes, thick, long and fluttery, it didn't clump her lashes together and was build-able. The wand was slim with tiny little spikey bits that helped lift and coat the lashes evenly. The small point at the end really ensured she could get all the lashes in her inner corner and the formula of the mascara was quick drying and didn't feel wet or smudge at all unlike some (*cough cough Lancôme Hypnoses). She placed this mascara in its rightful place, the throne next to the L'oreal Volume Million Lashes (which is great but agitates her eyes).

(Above shows one coat of mascara)

*out of story mode and back to normalness*- it's a pretty expensive mascara retailing at £24.50 but it comes in a beautiful gold packaging (typical YSL) with pretty red writing all over. I'm sure YSL counters still have the samples so check it out first before you commit to buy!

If anyone is wondering the lipsticks I bought were:
YSL Rouge Volupte Shine #3 Violet Incognito
YSL Rouge Pur Couture #9 Rose Stiletto

MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation Review

This popular powder by MAC Cosmetics promises a lasting matte finish, a good coverage with ease of application.

And I would 100% say this is true, it's probably one of MACs best sellers because it is pretty good. It's a staple in my makeup collection especially during the summer months where everything just melts off my face, this with concealer provides enough coverage for me (yay) ;)

It's longevity depends on your skin and the conditions you are in, I have normal-dry skin and live in England- it's usually cold here but now July is burning us all alive, this lasts a lot less on my face. I don't usually have to re-powder often, but when I do I find it does get a little cakey.

Pros
-Amazing Coverage and Good Oil Control
-keeps you matte for a good 4-5 hours
-can be used as both a setting powder and foundation itself
-coverage can be controlled through method/equipment of application or with buffer or fluffy brush
- convenient mirror and sponge in Compacte, with sponge stored in seperate compartment
- a lot of product, had mine for a year and haven't hit pan

Cons
- pricey for some people
- some ingredients in the powder have been seen to cause breakouts in some people but this didn't happen with me!
- Compacte itself is a little bulky so sometimes difficult to carry around
- tends to cake if a touch up is required
- very "powdery" so a lot of product is lost
- at times makes me look a bit chalky
-contains talc which might irritate skin

MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation retails for £21.50 at MAC Counters, online at MAC, House of Fraser and other department stores.

I use the colour NC35 which the photos above show, which is corresponding to my foundation colour in mac, #127 in MUFE HD, Tawny in ELDW, 6.5 Armani Luminous Silk.

A cheaper alternative to this powder would be the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder (£3.99) available from most drugstore/high street stores.
